“Sooo… once I started I couldn’t stop so I basically read the whole thing last night. I plan on going through again and taking note of some of the insights that I think will be helpful for my team to consider.
I think families will appreciate the raw emotion but even more so your perspective of what you (and all of us) have and can learn from Johnjohn.
Quite amazing how you had certain signs before he was born. So much we don’t know!!
Thank you for sharing your story and being vulnerable.
It was an honour to walk a very short distance along your journey.
And the impact he had on his little friend - oh my heart ! ”
When I picked up Letters To Heaven, I wasn’t sure what I would think of it. I read the forward and then found myself reading on.
I am an animal lover mind you, but there are many that are ANIMAL LOVERS and while I understand the grief of losing a pet, I never completely comprehended the grief some others can experience. Grief in general is so personal, I have always understood that, but Letters To Heaven gave me an insight I will use going forward. This book is like a beautiful glimpse Inside the ache of of loss. I know this sounds strange; however I found it gave me a deeply significant insight into how to understand the varying depth of grief we all experience.
Ms. Harris’ sharing of the loss of not only her beloved dog, but her niece & grandfather, bring to the foreground the temptation we all have to expect everyone to process things in a like manner.
I know, in the very depth of my being that right now, as I sit here, a dear friend who is loosing her beloved 16 year old husky, I have been given a beautiful gift of understanding how and what I can do to be along side her and comfort her in a far far better way than I would have had prior to reading Letters To Heaven. I will pass a copy of this beautiful book on to others.’
